Captain of the ship
During his tenure as the Finance and Human Resource Director, he was credited for improving the financial management of World Vision Lesotho, introducing disciplined financial practices, improved working conditions and conditions of service where medical and retirement insurance were introduced thereby reducing the risk to the organization. In 1999 – 2001, he had a stint in private practice focusing on taxation and accounting services. He then moved to the World Vision United States as Financial Analyst with planning and analysis as focus areas. In this role, his main focus was on monitoring the financial performance of the office, perform accounting compliance reporting, and provide specialized professional accounting and financial guidance to local and international World Vision offices. With nostalgia calling, in 2004 he grabbed the opportunity to become Senior Financial Manager back home with World Vision SA. He held the position for a year and half before acting in his current position of National Director /CEO. With the Board of World Vision SA having shown confidence in his abilities, professionalism, leadership and business acumen, he became a fully fledged National Director and CEO in 2006 until now. Lehlohonolo Chabeli, affectionately known by his last name, is World Vision South Africa's National Director. He joined World Vision in 1996 in Lesotho as an Internal Auditor. Soon after he joined, he moved through the ranks and was appointed Finance and Human Resource Director.
